So, I had a chance to review this Aeotec Range Extender, and honestly, I don’t know what it does. Seriously, I’m probably going to receive some kind of communique from the person who sent me this.
It is supposed to be used for Zigbee, and it “repeats signals” as well as “amplifies signals”. So, I know I have a Wi-Fi network in my house, but do I even have Zigbee? I have to say that I really don’t know what Zigbee is.
Maybe you need this, and if you do, I have to admit this device is very simple to use. Simple, as in you just plug it to the wall, and then push the button, and…I’m not certain what happens.
I’m going to have to be honest, I get a lot of stuff sent to me. I have had things show up on my doorstep that I have no idea where they came from. I will always review it, because that is my job. In some cases, I can’t find anything online for it.
I can’t really find much on the Aeotec Range Extender, but here’s what my contact sent me:
It is purely meant to function as a Zigbee Repeater for a Zigbee Home Automation network. It is backwards compatible and supports ZHA 1.2 and ZLL for older Zigbee configurations as well, but its hardware/firmware design is specifically in Zigbee 3.0 repeating.
Anyway, I believe that the price on it is about $39.99, and here’s a link to the Aeotec website.
