Introduction (Does It Do What It Should)
I have to admit, this is the second time this week that I had to report that I couldn’t get a device to work as it should. Yes, I am absolutely mortified by that, but truth be told, I only have a finite amount of time to review these devices, and if I can’t make that work in the given allotment of time that I have…then…yeah.
So, I couldn’t make the Linxura Smart Controller work, but I never assume that a product is made to be purposely shotty. After all, this has to work, as I have seen it in action at CES 2023. The Linxura Smart Controller is a concept that is very great, as it is essentially a remote controller for just everything. Seriously, you can take control of 52 devices here.
What kind of devices? Quite a few, and there are a lot underneath its umbrella like Alexa, Google Home, IFTTT, Sonos, QLife, Philips Hue, SmartThings, WiZ, Matter, SwitchBot, Homey, Ecobee, August, and Nanoleaf.
Now, that is a lot to pull from, and I had to admit that I thought I had at least one of these products so I could try it out and give a demonstration of it on the video. Well, you can watch the video, and it didn’t really work out. I had a Google Home Assistant, and I thought this would be good enough, but it was not.
That is, there was even a tutorial that I found to assist with my setup of Google Home on the Linxura Smart Controller, and I couldn’t get that to work. At some point, I got this error message, but I have to admit, I wasn’t certain what I was supposed to do with the Linxura Smart Controller.
I believe that the Linxura Smart Controller is great in its principle. It has no batteries, but can be recharged with its USB-C port. Then there is an e-paper display, and yes, that is monochromatic, but that is all you need. The controls are kind of like an old-school iPod with a clicker-wheel.
I will have to admit that the more I thought about it, the more I wasn’t certain if a Linxura is needed for control of smart devices. After all, don’t we have smartphones for that?
Still, just because it didn’t work for me doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. In fact, if you have a bunch of smart gadgets, then you probably know how to work them much better than I do. If that is the case, then this Linxura Smart Controller should work out well.
Facts About The Company
According to the “About Us”, the vision of Linxura is “to create a smarter, more connected world by empowering people to control and automate their homes with ease”. I am told that Linxura is to seamlessly integrate with reliable smart home controllers, but I had my issues. It is definitely made to simplify the way one can interact with technology.
What Does This Company Make?
So far as I can see, it looks like the Linxura Smart Controller and Luxura Wall Mount is about the only products that they make. I can see that this is going to be a company to look out for as they grow.
Just the Specs, Man
If you’re the type that needs this info, this section is for you!
I don’t see any specs page, so I didn’t really cover this.
If there is something on this that I didn’t cover, please let me know.
What Do the Reviews Say?
The Linxura Smart Controller has a lot of positive reviews on other sites and I’ve seen YouTube videos that speak very highly of it, so that is a positive in its favor.
Okay, Get To The Unboxing Already!
Maybe I Want It, But Is There Anything Else Like It? Maybe For A Lower Price? Please?
I don’t think I’ve really reviewed anything like this before, but I am very pleased at what I have seen. Yes, I couldn’t get it to work, but that doesn’t mean that it works with the smart devices that I just don’t have.
