BMW is putting out a hybrid car known as the i8, and it plans to be quite a car. So what better for a better-than-average car than a way-better-than-average key fob?
The Key Fob for this car has a hug resemblance to a smartphone. Not only it will enable the user to open the doors, trunk, and everything else key fobs do, but this has an LCD display. This display will give relevant information such as the range the car will go before it needs recharging, as well as how long to go before the car is recharged. I have a picture of it in my Source being stuck in the dash for recharging.
Unfortunately, my Source tells me that BMW has yet to confirm whether this key fob for this car actually exists. In all honesty, it isn’t hard to believe. After all, can’t we just put all the information on a smartphone that is on a key fob? Is an attachment for the smartphone required? If so, I wouldn’t mind getting it.
In other words, this is the future. I used to think that smartphones were going to take the place of wallets, and now they might just replace car keys as well. I consider it the future in action and motion.
