It is difficult to announce a big phone without a big event, and the Moto X was no exception. Yesterday, Google’s company Motorola announced the Moto X, and it has taken me a day to talk about all the features.
This new flagship smartphone has a curved back along with a 4.7-inch screen. The new phone will sport Jelly Bean version 4.2.2. It also has an X8 processing system with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC processor, which in the end will be a mobile system on several chips. The battery is a 2200 mHA which is good for constant updates on the device itself with 24 hour battery life. The camera is about 10 Megapixels, good for low-light, but I can’t seem to find any specs on the front-facing camera.
Another superior feature is that the user can go almost all voice control. It is all about performing Google searches and phone calls with one’s voice, and no buttons or screen unlocks required to access the vocal controls. It also has a weird curve-like controller on it.
As an added bonus, I have heard that the Moto X will know if it is in your pocket, or a moving car, or on a desk. Because of this, the device knows what functions to activate given its environment.
The Moto X should have 16 GB of memory on the initial launch, but no option of any memory card slot. Google is going to offer 50 GB of free Google Drive storage for two years for all Moto X owners.
Speaking of memory, I have heard that the Moto X will come with only six icons on the homescreen. This means a lot less bloatware than most Android smartphones.
One of the big features on the Moto X is its customization feature. You can create and customize your device online, and then it will be built for you. This includes 16 colors for the back of the device, and 7 accent colors. This is assuming you are a customer on AT&T’s network. I’ve heard of the possibility of engraved messages. All in all, I heard of 2000 possible color and material combinations.
The Moto X will be available on all four major U.S. carriers and this includes AT & T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, and Sprint. It should be available everywhere in late August or early September in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. It should cost about $200.
