I know I have vented on this many times, but even though mobile devices can do more, there is still things that limit me. For example, typing. I am getting better at it, but even with Swype methods, I find that my typing really “cramps my style”.
I remember that year where I had to learn how to type on a keyboard, and I feel like this year repeats every time I text, use the mobile web on my smartphone, or any other time I use a touchscreen keyboard on my mobile device for anything else, which in this case is about everything.
Maybe it would be better to try mobile typing on a different platform. This is why I admire what Whirlscape for creating Minuum. Watch it on the video up above, and I really have to agree with their assumption that no one wants a keyboard that takes up half of the screen.
Minuum, which I actually thought was pronounced minimum, works with a minimum of keys. It is just a QWERTY bar on the bottom of the screen, and it is made for very fast typing. I’m guessing that it has a word predict program.
I really support this “little keyboard for big fingers”, and you can find out more about it here.
