When it comes to Barbie, I think we all sort of appreciate the fact that she is sort of a symbol of womanhood but at the same time a parody of one. Some will say that Barbie is the trophy wife, but you can’t deny the toy has lasted the test of time.
What can I say about Barbie that most people haven’t said before? I once heard that if Barbie was full sized, she couldn’t even stand up. I have no idea if that is true, or how you could prove that. I mean, are her breasts so large that she would tip over with that tiny waist? How badly do I want to know the answer to that one?
An artist named Nickolay Lamm has created more realistic versions of Barbie, and there is a Kickstarter project to make this a reality. This Lammily doll has the “typical human proportions”, and has met its funding goals. I believe that a pledge of $25 will get you one.
Let’s see if this can compete with what Mattel has been doing for decades. Let me just be the first (and not the last) to say “I hope so”.
