I am sure that some of you reading this blog can remember when the movie 2010 was in the theaters. It was at the tail end of 1984, and I suppose we were all relieved that George Orwell’s visions didn’t come to pass. Unfortunately, neither did the dreams of Mr. Arthur C. Clarke.

Yes, if science fiction lived up to its dates, then we would have had sentient computers and manned missions to Jupiter by the year 2001. As it was, 2001 was greatly marred by tragedy thanks to 9/11.

Let us be thankful that we don’t have the world that 2010 showed. In the movie, the United States and Russia were on the brink of war. Still, I don’t think we are close to the contact with aliens.

Still, I do remember a line from the film:
“Something is about to happen…”
“What?”
“something wonderful”

I would be glad to meet 2010 with this sort of attitude. You cannot deny that God is moving.

The new year is always so exciting because it is a marker for change.
We really don’t know what’s on the horizon, but what if it was something good?
