For those who need help setting up that perfect shot at billiards, you might want to look into the PoolLiveAid.
This particular device allows the user to set up a shot thanks to a ceiling mounted camera, and it figures out what angle your shot will be thanks to a calculation that takes into account the player’s position, pool cue, table, and the balls.
Granted, you will have to hit that ball precisely to make the right shot, and I suppose there is no machine that can do that for you. Oh, who am I kidding, I’m sure there is somebody somewhere who is developing a robot that plays pool.
As for this augmented reality set up, it is being developed by Luis Sousa, Ricardo Alves, and JMF Rodrigues from the University of Algarve in Portugal.
