Take a gander at this home projector. It is a little different than most projectors that you see, because it isn’t horrendously expensive. Granted, it is only set up to connect with a DVD player or video game system with it, but it is quite easy to use. It even has a nice remote control for volume, contrast, and color.

Supposedly, it is designed to work from six feet away, and is good for a projection of…90 inches! Seems a little big of a diagonal to me, and I tried it out. You can read about this experience here.
