Things I look forward to at CES 2013

January 4, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

Well, as you probably know, CES is coming up. If you are not familiar with CES, it is a huge tech convention that takes place in Las Vegas at the beginning of January. Tomorrow, I make an 8-hour drive there, but today, I have heard a lot about what will be there, mostly from other blogs, so you will be seeing a lot of links to them.

1. LG is adding Google TV to seven of its TV sets.

Apparently, the company is making the GA7900 and GA6400, and these series of TVs will have Google TV on LG’s refurbished Magic Remote. I have heard that all one needs to do is just tell the remote control what he or she wants to watch, and the Google TV system will find it amongst 100,000 movies and TV episodes.

In addition to this, LG also promises to show off a “Hecto” laser TV Projector which will give the user a 100-inch screen from just 22-inches away.

Just to let you know, I usually avoid “big booths” at CES. People like Samsung, LG, Panasonic, and others tend to have so many products and people manning the booth, it is difficult to find out who to talk to. I should probably talk about another big company while I am on that subject.

2. Samsung’s Smart TV

The company is planning to show off ChatON 2.0, which will turn the cross-platform messaging app into a social network. It should be available in 200 countries in 60 languages, and you can leave comments on content, including photos and videos.

3. Polaroid’s 7-inch Android Tablet.

I think we all know who rules as far as the tablet market is concerned, and although Android is second, it is not a close second, unless all the tablets were combined. Polaroid, a company that would seem obsolete in the age of digital cameras, has a 7-inch tablet, targeted for the kids.

4. YotaPhone

YotaPhone now dog, Yotaphone. Ever since I heard about this iPhone case that gives Apple’s phone a second screen, I loved it. Apparently, this is an Android phone that has a full color 4.3 inch screen on one side and a secondary screen using e-ink.

5. RCA’s Mobile TV Tablet

Here is another Android tablet, and this one looks like it is made for TV watching. I might be going to this Press Conference, so here’s hoping I can see this one up close.

Well, I am sure that there will be more, and we will report on it when we get it. We’ll be live in Las Vegas, so this will be some great coverage!
