This isn’t the first time that I have reviewed a Matias product, and after I saw them at CES 2016, I was pleased that they developed an ergonomic edition of their “quiet mechanical” keyboards with the Ergo Pro.
So, this would be my first time typing on one of these ergonomic keyboards. Seriously, I have actually not tried this. I realize in this day and age, it sounds like I am telling you that this is the first time that I am using a touchscreen. I believe that I am actually doing as fast as I would if I were typing on a regular keyboard, so this is a bonus. So far, the only problem I have had is that I am used to typing the number “6” with my left hand, but I have to use my right with this one. Nice to know that there is a quick learning curve with an ergonomic keyboard, at least with me.
I have said before in my review of the first Matias product that my laptop keys are quieter, but I will give points to the Ergo Pro for making some metal keyswitches on this guy.
The lists of the bonuses on this keyboard are numerous. I am assuming that this is better for your wrists, and there are a pad on each side to rest the wrist. There are also some foldable legs on it, but they work like tripods. I don’t know if I am using them correctly, but using the legs on their highest height makes the keyboard sides buckle a bit.
There is also 3 extra USB 2.0 ports on this guy, which comes in handy, because you will lose a USB port on your computer. There are also some dedicated keys for Cut, Copy, Paste, and Undo, that that really comes in handy.
The only drawback is the cords. The one tying the two keyboards together is kind of bulky, but the micro USB/USB cable is just right, and for some reason, and extra is thrown in. It also took a while for my computer to recognize the new keyboard, but it did.
Overall, I’m going to give this keyboard a high recommendation, and if you want to have it for yourself, head over to the Matias site and pay about $200.00.
