It is interesting to see Yubikey at a recent conference (CES 2016, in case you didn’t figure that out). Developed by Yubico, it looks to be some serious kind of authentication key, in the highest degree.
Basically, it plugs right into the USB port and it can get your password in instantly. So if you are at a computer that you don’t know, have trouble remembering your password, then you can just pop in the Yubikey in the USB port and get that password on. Considering all of the passwords that have to remembered, that just makes a lot of sense. It is made to be portable like on a keychain, and there is a tiny button to recall the passwords.
Some kinds of Yubikey can use NFC, which means that a smartphone or tablet can interact with it. I’m going to recommend this product as well as the Yubikey Nano, which fits into the USB port completely and stays there.
The Yubikey 4 is about $39.99, and the Yubikey 4 Nano is about $50. Both of these products are available on the Yubico website.
