As I talked about with the death of the iPod Classic, it seems like every tech era comes to an end. Take the Age of Music gaming, which probably came to a close this year with the end of Music hero downloads. I believe that Disney and Harmonix intend to bring music gaming back with Fantasia: Music Involved.
I had a chance to play this game at PAXPrime 2014, and as far as I know, it looks to be only available for the Xbox One, since it has a Kinect action. The play is swiping your hands at the right time while notes hit, and if you do it at the right time, your score will be higher. This game could easily not have been related to Fantasia at all, but it is actually incorporated well. You remember the scene in Fantasia where the Sorcerer Mickey Mouse was dreaming and was making sparks explode? Now imagine doing that for real.
I highly recommend trying this out for yourself, as the soundtrack is full of both classic and modern rock tunes. It won’t be available until October 21, 2014, just in time for the holidays.
