It took me a while before I felt comfortable reviewing Hand of Fate, and I will explain what I mean. Defiant Development’s interesting game is definitely unique as it seems combine an action game with a card game.
As someone who doesn’t play any card style role-playing games, I have no idea if games like Magic are like Hand of Fate. If so, I wonder why I don’t play more of them. I started playing it on my PS4, and the game begins with a tarot card reader who appears to have shopped at Scorpion’s and Sub-Zero’s costume shop. What happens is that he deals cards so you can play some fantasy like atmosphere.
So basically, you select a card, but here’s the thing. Sometimes the dealer gives cards, but you can’t select some. So you just click on the card you can go to, and you can get some treasure, fight a monster or more, and do other adventures as well.
The gameplay is interesting, and I have to admit that I haven’t really seen anything like it, but I have no idea if there is already. What was weird was I thought I had beaten a level, only to find out that I hadn’t.
The action of the game is interesting, and the gameplay is interesting. I have no idea how much of the game that I played, but something tells me that it gets more interesting as it goes. In short, Hand of Fate has what fans are looking for with video games. Check it out on Steam on $24.99.
