Well, Kickstarter is often a place to get crowdfunding for games, and I suppose it was only a matter of time before Night Trap was revived. If you aren’t familiar with Night Trap, it was a very controversial game of its time due to its violence.
Actually, one of the only violent scenes is at the beginning, when a woman is attacked in the shower by blood-sucking zombies. This was during the time where all of a sudden, parents were bothered by games like Mortal Kombat, where players can rip their opponent’s skull and spine out.
The game was eventually released to Sega CD, but I don’t think it did as well as expected. It probably didn’t help Dana Plato, former star of Diff’rent Strokes, who was the star of this game that took place in some zombie slumber party.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this game led to the game rating system as we know it, and I’m guessing that this revival of this game won’t be a redeux, but just the old on a new system. I think they are applying for a Nintendo license, actually.
If you want to donate to this fund, here’s the link to the Night Trap ReVamped Kickstarter Page. Maybe you can help them with their $330,000 goal.
