See that post there? As much as I like to avoid anything questionable on my website, I do have to address the question. That being whether or not this particular character from Blizzard’s new game Overwatch, Tracer is in a hypersexualized pose.
Apparently, this is some kind of victory pose from this character, and I don’t know that much about this game to know what this means. Some people believe that this character is having some kind of weird…posterior position that is unrealistic. In fact, some people complained about this, and Blizzard actually took down this picture.
Personally, I think this is very good that Blizzard took this photo down because the fans complained. It wasn’t some feminist group that made it a huge issue, and the only reason why we probably heard of it was because gamers complained.
So here is some interesting news that I call bad because it just seems inconsistent. You see this picture of this character of Mercy, also from Overwatch? I was able to find a picture of an actual ad with her picture, and there could be some similar complaints.
I am not certain how to say this, actually, I do. Maybe it’s me, but Mercy’s boobs stick out somewhat far. This could be due to her outfit, but how is this different from the hypersexualized pose? Someone could just as easily say that this is hypersexualization, just like people complain about Barbie.
This is one of those times where I just don’t want to judge, again. Perhaps this is just one of those things, but I thought it was worth bringing up.
