Bitdefender BOX

BitdefenderHere’s an interesting device known as the Bitdefender BOX is a cybersecurity solution. That is the official word from the company itself, and you might be wondering why some hardware in the form a box would be needed with this sounds like a software thing.

Well, it isn’t, and it is. Let me explain. Once you connect it to your router and connect it to your application, it will guide you as to how to operate it. You see, the Bitdefender isn’t just made for the one particular computer, but everything connected in your home network.

That means your smart TV, smartphone, tablet, gaming console, and any particular Internet of Things (IOT) devies from malware, online fraud, data theft, online spying and a lot of other online dangers.

The App is pretty easy to set up, and it notifies of network events, as well as controlling particular devices. It is good for setting data limits, installing Windows updates, improve overall system speed, and even locating lost devices…wow!

If you want to get this, check it out at the Bitdefender site and get the free BOX Security Hub, and pay only the yearly subscription for $99.00.

Speculative Fiction Saturday: Constantine

constantine-posterI have to say that most films that I have seen like Constantine are generally full of things that even the Bible doesn’t believe in, but it almost looks like it should. Films with God and the Devil feel like they should be liked by Christians, but they are often the ones most boycotted. I personally think that Constantine has some incredibly good ideas, and it is a wild, disturbing action ride.

Constantine stars Keanu Reeves as…yeah, it’s pretty easy to talk about Keanu Reeves, and his “surfer dude” attitude makes him seem cardboard. However, I can’t help but like him, because even though he comes off as fake, most people act this way.

So, Keanu plays a man named John Constantine that has the ability to see angels, demons, and all kinds of spiritual things. He then takes them on kind of like some action exorcist. Apparently, John Constantine is based in comic book source material, but I have never read his particular graphic novels. I wonder if DC comics was trying to start some Cinematic Universe before Marvel was doing it. Also, there was a weekly series that was based on this source material, but I don’t know anything about that.

So, let’s judge Constantine for what it is, and I actually like it. One of the things that I like about this film is that Constantine has this ability to see what we all want to see, into that supernatural world that we all know is there. Part of this is the whole Men In Black vibe that this film has where the supernatural is hidden within the natural. This is something that I believe exists, but honesty, if the extraordinary became ordinary, then like John Constantine, you would just get sick of it.

Especially when you exorcise demons from the living and save lives, you soon discover that you are dying of lung cancer. This is what Constantine opens to, after Constantine just stopped a powerful demon.

From there, Constantine becomes an odd detective story and I would have to say that the “big case” feels a little…I’m not certain. Part of it involves the Spear of Destiny, the weapon that pierced Christ on the cross. There is apparently some thing that involves Rachel Weisz that will free the son of the devil to destroy the world…I’m still not certain.

The reason why I like this film is because even though the doctrine about demons and angels seems un-biblical. At least it acknowledges that heaven and hell exist, and they are somehow mixed with the real world. The mixture of hell and Los Angeles into this “Hell A” landscape creates a very hypnotic effect. Then there is also a mix of L.A. skyscrapers with heavenly clouds that looks really good as well.

There is also a scene where a demon attacks Constantine, and it is made of insects, crabs, and any disgusting creature that you can think of. It is something that could have been developed more, but it was probably a pretty expensive effect.

I think that what I like about this film is that Constantine realizes that he is not a pawn in a supernatural game. There are things that he cannot control in his odd life, but that doesn’t meant that he won’t try to do the right thing.

Rise iPhone 6/6S from Body Glove

Body Glove iPhone 6Now that we have returned from CES (two weeks ago), I am almost finished with reviewing items that I received from CES 2016. Yes, I will end with the Rise Case for the iPhone 6/6S.

Hooray! Now the Rise has a lot of interesting features, and one of them is a 2-layer protection with ridges for a three-dimensional look. It also has shock resistant corners and this has a durable gel material for some more protection.

I’m going to make this a quick review by saying that there is a lot to like about this. Body Glove certainly makes some interesting products, so why not the Rise Case?

If you want this, feel free to head over to the Body Glove website for $29.99.

Avant Guard for the iPhone 6

Avant GuardI have to admit that I might have bought this product out of its cool name alone. The Avant Guard for the iPhone isn’t just a screen protector, and it will do so much more. Allow me to explain.

It has a Oleophobic coating to repel sweat and oil, as well as tempered glass. Then it has safety laminate to keep it in one place, and there is a bubble-free adhesive.

So yes, there is a lot of layers to this screen protector, and it also has what they call 6Sense technology. I don’t know any screen protector that offers more control on a smartphone, but this one does.

Believe it or not, it offers one-handed functions like Back, Camera, Done, Edit, Next, NewDraft, Search, and Select. This is good for all kinds of applications.

You can find out more information about the Avant Guard on the 6Sense site, and purchase it for the iPhone 6/6S on Amazon for $29.99.

Candy Crush iPhone 6 Case with Fragrance

Candy Crush Scented CaseToday must be review a soft case for an iPhone 6/6S day, because today I am reviewing a Scented Case for the iPhone based on Candy Crush.

I honestly don’t know what company makes this, but I had a chance to review this after CES 2016. My wife even has one of these on her Galaxy S5 phone right now.

The Scented Case is based on Candy Crush, and it has the Candy Crush label on the back of it. Why? Because Candy Crush is a big fad right now and will probably continue to be.

I’m just going to put the first link that I found for this products. I also found the case available with Blueberry, Mango, Grape, Apple, and Lemon. Quite a lot of flavors.

ActionProof SP-06 for the iPhone 6/6S

actionproof Sp-06The ActionProof SP-06 is oddly named, like it is some kind of sunblock, but instead of providing protection from the sun’s rays, it gives 360 degree protection with 0 limits.

That is what the product says, and it has some full coverage with 100 percent silicone rubber, and it has some soft touch action going on. It is good to see a product that can cover the volume buttons, lock switch, microphone, speakers, headphone jack, and charging port.

It is easy to say that if you have seen one iPhone case, you have seen them all, and yeah, there are always similarities itself. It is available on Actionproof site for the iPhone 6/6S for $29.99 and the iPhone 6/6S Plus for $34.99.

Chipolo Helps You Find Tagged Things

ChipoloThis is Chipolo, and I just covered a product just like it, and just click the “Previous” tab (assuming it is there) to get it. The Chipolo can be attached to anything like keys, pets, backpack, and syncs with Bluetooth.

The Chipolo sounds like some kind of Mexican dish, but it is a definite tracking app that works with some ringing. In fact, you can shake the Chipolo in order to find the device that is connected to.

It is a range of 200 feet or 60 meters, and has a community search by locating on a map. It has a battery life of about 6 to 12 months, and this device has a replaceable battery that comes with it.

The Chipolo comes in nine fun colors, and there is a new feature that allows for tracking the same Chipolo on two phones at the same time. Then there is this last feature that allows for shaking the Chipolo to take a selfie.

You can get the Chipolo for $29.99 on the official site.

TrackR Bravo

TrackRI’m going to review two devices today that pretty much do the same thing, and the TrackR Bravo is one of them. The Bravo is the size of that 50-cent piece that you see there, and it allows for tracking any lost or misplaced item.

This is possible with an application and it displays the distance between you and the item, whether it be a keys or a pet. Yeah, this TrackR bravo can be put on just about anything, and with a tap of a finger on the app, the bravo will ring so finding the product will be simple.

If you can’t find a phone, hit the TrackR device to ring the phone, even on silent. Also included is a GPS network when you find it with 100 foot range, and there are separation alerts to when you leave an item behind. This application has a serious map, which is quite helpful for trying to find whatever it is the TrackR is attached to.

This is quite an amazing product, and it can be bought at a very inexpensive price. One device costs $29.99, with 3 with 2 free for $89.99, and buy 5 and get 5 free for $149.99. It is available on the TrackR site.

SlimPort Nano Console

SlimPortGenerally, I don’t really review products that apparently still on Indiegogo, but I have to admit that this product, which I picked up at CES 2016, is so very decent. I might be understating this, as the SlimPort Nano Console is a very good product that can do a lot of things.

Basically, the SlimPort Nano Console is a cube shaped device that connects to an HDMI display. From there, you can connect your smartphone or tablet to this cube. Not only will this cube charge your tablet or smartphone, anything on your tablet or smartphone will appear on your display.

It really is a good idea, as it just makes sense to make something to get things on your mobile device onto a display. Not only that, you can take control of the smartphone or tablet with a Bluetooth enabled touchpad NANO to control a device just like you are holding it.

Not only that, you can connect a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to turn the device into something else. Yeah, it can do that and more with gaming.

So, yeah there is a lot that you can do with this. I believe that the price that I am seeing for this is quite low at about $59. You can find out more about it on the SlimPort Nano Console here.

The Marseille mCable

mCableI have to admit that I don’t review a lot of video cables here on this blog, but I have to say that I am very impressed by this mCable from Marseille.

I’m going to get this out of the way and say that I saw this product at CES, and I was very impressed by the presenter. Seriously, someone needs to give that guy a raise, because he was so exuberant about his product that he is a model of anyone who makes anything.

The mCable HDMI Cable brags that it is the only product of its type that improves picture quality. Now, when I saw this product demonstrated at CES, they showed me two separate screens, one with the mCable and one without. It actually does bring sharper pictures, better contrast, natural colors, and crisp edges. If I hadn’t seen the images side by side, I wouldn’t have known the difference.

The mCable (M is presumably for Marseille, a region in France) has a video enhancing processor that does its magic. Not only can it improve the resolution of a 1080p or 4K TV, but it can improve the resolution on older models of TV. It is able to upscale 480p/720p to 1080p and 1080p to 4K.

I highly recommend anyone who wants a better cable for your television should look into the Marseille mCable and can find out more information on the product on the company website. The 4 foot model can be found on Amazon for $121.50, while the 9 foot version can also be found on Amazon for $149.95.
