I don’t know if we are ever going to live in some sort of robot age, where robots do all the things that we just don’t want them to do. For some reason, I am fascinated by the robots that may never do any work at all.
Stuff like the RoboBee is very similar to the Festo BionicOpter robotic dragonfly that we covered a while ago, but a lot smaller. The RoboBee is built up from carbon fiber, and it only weighs in at a fraction of a gram.
I am not certain why anyone could create a robotic bee, but they could come in handy in a search-and-rescue situation. Imagine something that could get into tight cracks, and I think you will see the benefits of it, perhaps.
Could you use them for some sort of military force? Just imagine a swarm of these things headed toward you. Oh snap! What will they carry in those stingers?
In all honesty, I am just glad to see this tech used for pretty much anything, honestly.
