One of the reasons why I do what I do is because I love the nifty things that technology can do. Such is the case with this “IllumiRoom” from Microsoft Research.

I’ve seen cool stuff under development from Microsoft Research before like the Mirage Table and the Wearable Multitouch Projector. Now I have seen another example of cool tech with the IllumiRoom.

The IllumiRoom is an “Immersive Display Experience” that has a recent patent, combining augmented reality with the Kinect to create a way to blur lines between on-screen content. All I can tell you is just watch the video already.

I think we all know that video games are getting more and more player-immersed, as seen with certain devices like the Oculus Rift. I wouldn’t mind using this, but all its flashiness would be seen on the outside of my house.
