Battery Tender eCharge 32 AMP Level 1 and 2 Portable Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger

June 14, 2025 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

Introduction (Does It Do What It Should)

Okay, we had the chance to review not one but two products from Battery Tender, and now it is time for a third. This eCharge 32 AMP is really important to me, for reasons that I will explain here.

As I mention in the video, I decided to take the plunge and forget about gas-powered cars. Part of it is that I am sick of paying for gas when oil is just not a renewable resource. I figure that it’s just better to pay for something that is electrical powered. I’m going to do a whole episode of TheGeekChurch The Show about it, and part of it will be covering the purchase of my 2024 KIA EV6.

Perhaps you are considering the purchase of an Electric Vehicle, because you like the idea that you can charge it up at home. Well, what they don’t tell you is that you might need a 270 Volt plug. If you are not aware, this is one of those big outlets that your dryer is probably plugged into. If you are fortunate enough to have one of these outlets in the dryer, then all you need is the charging cord that will connect to your EV. Then, while your car is in the driveway or garage, it can be charging all night. If you don’t drive your car much (like to and from work every day) you could be set for quite a while.

Unfortunately, my EV6 did not come with a charging cord, and for the past few weeks, I’ve been finding some cool EV charging stations in my city that allow me to charge up my EV6 for free. The downside is that I have to leave it there for quite a while, and most stations won’t allow you to stay for more than two hours.

So basically, I wanted the eCHARGE because I only had your typical three prong outlet in my garage, and I wanted to charge my new EV6 there. Fortunately, the eCharge 32 Amp has an adapter, and it served me just fine.

You can see in the video that I plugged it in for about 6 hours, and I got about 30 miles out of it. Yeah, that doesn’t seem to be a lot, and I don’t know how much it could do if I used a 270 Volt outlet. I believe that the ideal output is 28.5 charge miles per hour. I mean, the proof is in the pudding, and I had quite a chance to taste it, and look forward to having it for desert every day now. Best of all, it came in this cool carrying case, so I can take it with me. Anytime I need a charge, all I need is a functioning outlet and a lot of time.

So yeah, it’s great for me. The eCharge 32 is equipped with various protection software to prevent over and under voltage, over temperature, not to mention leakage and grounding issues. I didn’t really talk about the display unit on the video, but it has information such as the status, output, or error messages.

In addition to that, it is Energy Star and UL Safety Certified, but it does not have a Tesla adapter. Yeah, it has the J1772 plug, and I’m assuming that most EVs use this. If this is what you want, you can get it on the Battery Tender site for about $454.95.

Facts About The Company

From what I can tell on the “About Us” page, “we specialize in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of technologically advanced power-related products that cater to the evolving needs of our global customer base”. That is just the company Deltran, the parent company, as the Battery Tender brand started in 1988, incorporating microprocessors in their automotive products.

What Does This Company Make?

A lot of products for the automotive, powersport, marine, and RV markets. They are even solar battery chargers, and other products that hopefully we are going to get a chance to review sometime.

Maybe I Want It, But Is There Anything Else Like It? Maybe For A Lower Price? Please?

When it comes to the WaveCharger Pro 3-Bank, I have never reviewed anything really like it. I think that price is far too high, but considering all that it can do, perhaps it might come off as a bargain to those who go through marine batteries on a great boating day.

As for the Jumpstarter, we once reviewed two from Weego with the 44S and the 22 model.
