I think we all know that drones are going to be the wave of the future after Jeff Bezos announced that they would be delivering your packages from Amazon via flying machines. However, we really don’t want the heaviness of drones, just the flying eye in the sky. Drones are being used to take aerial shots, but if they should fail, then look out below! Imagine if there was a way to take insects and put cameras on them.
Don’t worry, this isn’t what is happening here. Also, it has nothing to do with the RoboBee that we reported on a while ago. This is the DelFly Explorer, and it weighs less than an ounce with two tiny low-resolution video cameras. It even has an onboard computer, even though it weighs about as much as four sheets of paper.
Perhaps you can see some uses for it, and I am imagining a world where press conferences have these flying things around in lieu of cameramen. Wouldn’t it be great if these were easy to assemble, as soon as you can print them out? Yes, it could be a whole new age, and I am looking for it.
