EnerPlex Surfr for the iPhone 4/4S and the Galaxy S III

January 29, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

I was fortunate to run into EnerPlex at CES, and now I am privileged to try out three of their products, which I will cover in the space of three different articles. In this particular article, I will focus on two different EnerPlex products, the Surfr for both the Samsung Galaxy S III and iPhones 4 and 4S.

I tried out the Surfr for the former, and I found that it adds a little more real estate to the already big Android phone. The case is about 15mm thick, and it can be split apart and put back together so it will connect on the micro USB port on the bottom center of the S III. The S III feels a little heavier with it on, even though it is only 70 grams.

This case for the Galaxy S III is actually a 2100 mAh lithium-ion battery, and it can be charged with the power of the sun. Oh, it can also be charged in the traditional manner with a USB cord. It has a standby time of 255 hours, 6 hours of web time, 7.1 hours of Wi-Fi, 123 hours of audio play, and 6.8 hours of video play.

Of course, the stats are different for the iPhone 4/4S. It is 73 grams, 14mm thick, and it has 170 hours of standby time, 3.5 hours of web, 5.6 hours of Wi-Fi, 19 hours of audio play, and 5.6 hours of video play.

The real question is how long can this survive with just a solar charge. Trust me, I am going to try that one out all week, and I will let you know by the end of my EnerPlex coverage.

If you want to buy the Surfr for the iPhone 4/4S, you can get it on the EnerPlex site for $69.99, while the Surfr for the Galaxy S III costs a little more at $79.99 here.
