Our Review of the HTC One M9 Smartphone plus HTC Android 6.0 Marshmallow Release Date

HTC One M9Well, I’ve had a chance to review the HTC One M9 Android smartphone, and what I will have to say is pretty positive. I’ll go ahead and start with just how it feels in my hand. Even though the HTC One M9 is made of cold metal rather than warm plastic, I like its curve. I don’t know if it is ergonomic, but I like it.

One of the big selling points of the HTC One series is that it has two stereo speakers on the front of it, located very obviously on the top and bottom. Now, most people listen to their music through their headphones or stream it to Bluetooth or NFC speakers, but if you just want one device to play it and you and others can hear it, this HTC One M9 is good for you at 5.1 surround.

Might as well take the time to talk about the camera now, it is a 20 Megapixel job, and it is good. Thanks to this camera, I didn’t have to worry about using the flash, as it did it pretty much automatically. Then there are other things it can do like editing photos and videos. You can then use these photos to customize the phone for the wallpaper, icons, and a whole lot more.

I would say that on the whole, the HTC One M9 just feels comfortable, and part of it has to do with its version of Android. HTC puts their own spin on Android known as Sense, and I don’t know if that affects the most recent release of Android, but there are reports that it could skip from Android 5.1 to 6.0, bypassing the 5.1.1 version entirely. It should be interesting what happens when they get to 6.0, and I can’t wait until it arrives, which should be before the end of the year.

In short, I’m going to recommend it, and you can find out more information about it here.

Mobile World Congress 2015: What we know so far

Samsung S6 newOkay, with Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 going on in Barcelona, there are a lot of announcements going on, and we have some confirmation on some, but not on others.

First of all, Samsung did announce the Galaxy S6 as well as the Galaxy S6 Edge. The Edge is the first phone with a curved touchscreen, but it is not as advanced as the Galaxy Note Edge. By the way, the Samsung Pay also got announced, which I suppose that you could compare to Apple Pay. I guess I should have seen it coming when Samsung bought LoopPay. Yeah, I probably should have reported on that. You can barely tell them apart on the image to the right here.

HTC One M9Another big development is the unveiling of the HTC One M9, and is the new version of the One M8. It was expected to arrive along with the S6, and it has a 20 Megapixel camera and all-metal design, and it is here to the left. Oh yes, we already covered the Vive VR headset, but we forgot to announced the HTC Grip, a GPS fitness band.

LG didn’t have any smartphone to unveil, but it did unveil the LG Watch Urbane LTE that can run Web OS.

Lenovo also took the time to unveil the Ideapad Miix 300 tablet and the Lenovo Tab2 A10-70 tablet.

Huawei also had some interesting news as it unveiled an Android Wear watch, the first of its kind. The company also unveiled the Talkband B1, another type of Fitness Tracker, and a 7-inch tablet known is the MediaPad.

Haier was on deck at MWC 2015 to put its best foot forward with some connected watches for kids and senior citizens.

As you might have guessed, there is a lot to report here, and it still isn’t over. If we do a follow-up, I’m sure there will be a lot more. So far, there isn’t any word if Sony’s Xperia Z4 phone will make an appearnce, but I have heard they have a tablet. We might cover that one.

Mobile World Congress 2015In case you are not aware, there is a a huge conference in Barcelona Spain that perhaps I will attend one day. There are going to be a lot of new phones on display there.

I’ll start with the one that I am probably going to get with the Samsung S6. Of course, I it is a sequel to Samsung S5, and I would imagine that the screen will be bigger and it might have a similar curved display of the Galaxy Edge. It will be very interesting to see where this goes.

Then there will be the HTC One M9, the next step from HTC’s flagship One M8. It was rumored that this would show up at CES 2015, but tradition has HTC unveiling the latest version of the One at MWC.

Samsung S6Then there is the Sony Xperia Z4, sequel to the Z3. It is possible that the Z4 could have a tablet brother as well.

These are the big three phones that will be at MWC 2015, and there is another one from Lenovo. In fact, there will be a lot of Lenovo phoens like the Vibe Max. The Vibe Max plans to have a 6 inch display with QHD resolution.

So, here’s what we can expect from MWC 2015, and I’m sure there will be more. I’ll see if I can’t report on them as they get announced next week.
