Introduction (Does It Do What It Should)
Okay, this is where I’m going to talk about some products from Nomad, a company that I used to review often, but not so much anymore. The last time was back in 2021, so we’ve had four different iPhones since then. This time, we have three cases for the iPhone 17 Pro Max (with one being a back) and then a charging station known as the Stand One Max, so I’m going to start with that.
Our Review of the Nomad Stand One Max 3-in-1 Charging Station
Well, this is a product that I have seen before, many times, in fact. I mean, if you think about it, many Apple users not only have the phone, but they got the Apple Watch, and they probably have the newest or hopefully wireless charging version of the Airpods. So, why wouldn’t you want to put them all in once place where you can charge them all wirelessly? This is where the Stand One Max comes in.
The Stand One Max has 2x faster charging with its MagSafe magnets for 15W on those newer iPhones with the MagSafe feature. It should be known that I attempt to use a phone with Qi charging (or at least some limited Qii charging ability) and I couldn’t get that phone to charge. (It might have something to do with proper power, maybe.) Assuming you have the right type of iPhone, you can position it in portrait or landscape mode, so you can view a clock function, or watch a video.
The stand itself is both metal and glass, weighing in at about 2 pounds, so it will stay standing when you put stuff on them. It comes with a USB-C to USB-C charging cord, but if you want a power adapter, you will have to get yourself a 30W USB-C type.
If you want to check it out for yourself, head on over to the Nomad site and lay down $159 for it.
Our Review of the Nomad Modern Leather Case for the iPhone 17 Pro Max
This is the first of the leather cases that we’re going to look at, all for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This is the Horween leather, which preserves the natural features of the hide, and doesn’t try to correct for color variations or blemishes, so it all comes off naturally.
While I’m talking about the leather, I should talk about the patina, which is a glass or sheen on a surface resulting from age or polishing. Over time, that patina is going to be very unique for your leather case.
Another feature is the glass camera control to use the iPhone Camera to its fullest. Sadly, I don’t really have a demonstration of that in the video. I also didn’t demonstrate the drop protection, which is about 8 feet. Oh, there’s also an internal lanyard attachment system.
You can get it this in many varieties for about $75 on the Nomad site.
Our Review of the Nomad Modern Leather Folio for the iPhone 17 Pro Max
I’m not certain how to talk about this particular one without talking about features from the other Leather Case, but here it is. It has the Horween Leather along with the patina I talked about before. The 8-foot drop protection and special camera button are also about the same.
What makes this very different is how this has 3 different pockets where you can hold cards, and you can even stick some cash in a special slot as well. Since it is a folio, that means that there is this cool folding feature, and there is a magnetic locking thing that can be removed if you don’t want it.
If you want to get it, head on over to the Nomad site and lay down $109 for it.
Our Review of the Nomad Modern Leather Back for the iPhone 17 Pro Max
So, this particular product is very different. All you really need to do is just slap this thing on the back of the phone. I guess that is why they call it the Modern Leather Back.
So, this is something kind of interesting, really, and I honestly don’t remember if I have ever reviewed anything like it. It feels super familiar, for some reason.
So, some of the features are a lot like the others, like the Horween leather and patina. If this is something that you are into, feel free to head on down to the Nomad site and pay $49 for it.
Facts About The Company
I feel like I have some hand in helping to start this company. Years ago, I reviewed the ChargeCard, which launched on Kickstarter. The ChargeCard was a charger made to fit in the slot of a wallet (or even the Folio case) and I’m guessing it was a big hit. I know I wrote an article about it back when I wrote for coolest-gadgets.com, but sadly, all the articles that I’ve written on there have been taken down. However, I also wrote an article for the TheGeekChurch about it that you can read here.
The company is big into sustainability, and, as I have said on my video, are also into leather.
What Does This Company Make?
So I have reviewed a lot of products from Nomad in the past few years, and you can do a search if you like. I don’t see a reason to list them all, because I’m not certain if they are still made.

Maybe I Want It, But Is There Anything Else Like It? Maybe For A Lower Price? Please?
Well, I’m going to let you look that up, as far as the charging station is concerned. And yes, there are a lot of cases you could buy, and should, because they are great. However, does anything have the leather fine quality of Nomad? I’ll also let you answer that question.
