Our Review of the XbotGo AI Sports Gimbal and T1 Tripod

March 10, 2024 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

Introduction (Does It Do What It Should)

This is one of those times where I am going to say that I couldn’t get it to work for me, not exactly. The XbotGo AI Sports Gimbal is a device with a very noble purpose: if you have ever been to any sporting event, it is all about teams running around after a ball, right? What if you had a something on your smartphone camera that would automatically follow the action of your sporting event? That would be the AI Sports Gimbal.

This is more than just a great idea, as I think most of us have used some kind of autotracking device with our smartphones. Or, I have actually used one, and it is pretty cool. I had to admit that I thought I could give a demonstration of this product where I would be moving around like I was in some kind of sports game.

Well, it didn’t quite work, and I actually think that I have a reason why it might. It is possible that my phone is not compatible with it. I actually didn’t consider that a factor, as I didn’t think of this Samsung S10e being too not advanced a smartphone for the XbotGo.

You can watch the video to see why I didn’t really find it satisfactory. I found that once I downloaded the app, that I had to use this app to do my video footage. Sometimes the phone and the XbotGo device would not sync up with their Bluetooth, and I have demonstrations of the powered-on device not being able to hold the smartphone properly.

So yes, you are supposed to use the video app to select a subject, and this subject is seen with a yellow dotted outline on it. If you touch this dotted outline, it turns blue, and then tracks it…sometimes. Yeah, there are times where the XbotGo causes the phone to just veer off.

Then there are times, when the phone would just go limp on the XbotGo. At that point, all I could do was just switch off the XbotGo and turn it on again. But while it would be off, the app would give some kind of alert. Why?

Now, there were times, when it would track a subject, but most of the time, it wouldn’t happen. Part of it might have been that the Gimbal can only spin so much, as it doesn’t allow for a 360 pan. I will say that the controls are very good, so if you are wanting to use the XbotGo AI Sports Gimbal to do some good camera-in-motion shots, it will work.

Now, what I did like was the T1 Tripod. Oh my gosh, I love that it extends its legs super long, and I don’t care how that sounds. This is made of high-quality aluminum alloy and stainless steel, and it has snap-point design to quickly lock the foot tubes.

Facts About The Company

It really looks like XbotGo is just about this one particular product, and it is this. Oh, there is also the tripod and the remote control, which I didn’t really try out.

What Does This Company Make?

Like I said, this XbotGo is just this product, at least for now. Even though I don’t think that this product worked for me, I feel that this company has a very great future ahead of it.

Maybe I Want It, But Is There Anything Else Like It? Maybe For A Lower Price? Please?

We did review the DJI OM 5, which I liked. It was a lot cheaper, actually, but it didn’t have that AI tracking feature.
