Introduction (Does It Do What It Should)
So, I thought I had reviewed Plugable before, but it turns out, I don’t think that I have. Actually, I found it that I did a review of the Plugable Smallest USB-C Docking Station, but it was before I had a YouTube channel. I had a great time reviewing the Plugable Thunderbolt 4 Dock for 4K Dual Monitors or Single 8K with 100W Laptop Charging.
This is one of those really cool Thunderbolt 4 charging docks. I am going to talk about how it can take 4K 60Hz HDMI displays, and it is good for 8K displays. Oh, and it has 100W worth of power delivery (96W certified). Sadly, I didn’t really have something to test this on. Oh, and since it is a Thunderbolt 4 port, it has 40Gbps data transfer.
So, let’s talk about all the ports. We’re looking at 4x USB ports (2 x 10Gbps and 2 x 5Gbps), 2 HDMI ports, SD/microSD slots, combo audio jack, and a Gigabit Ethernet port. There is also a slot for K lock.
Just to let you know, you will need a built-in Thunderbolt 4 or USB4 port running Windows 10 and later or macOS 11 and later. Just to let you know, I found that Plugable makes a USB-C to HDMI 2.8 8K Adapter.
Facts About The Company
What is funny is how the inspiration about Plugable’s founder just said “what if we could build a better technology company” and that was it. Apparently, they are a Washington-based company, which means they are in a long-range backyard.
What Does This Company Make?
I have seen a lot of products on the Plugable website, and much of them are docking stations. I mean, they are a company called Plugable, so that makes a whole lot of sense.
Just the Specs, Man
If you’re the type that needs this info, this section is for you!
I couldn’t find the specs on this on the Plugable website, so I’m going to just skip this for now.
If there is something on this that I didn’t cover, please let me know.
What Do the Reviews Say?
According to Amazon, it has 4.5 stars on Amazon.
Okay, Get To The Unboxing Already!
Maybe I Want It, But Is There Anything Else Like It? Maybe For A Lower Price? Please?
We have done a lot of docking stations, with the last one being Cyber Acoustics Essential Universal Docking Station Review. Oh, and then there is the VisionTek VT2900 USB-C Dual System KVM Docking Station with 100W Power Delivery. Oh, and then we just reviewed the JCD543.
The issue is that I don’t think that any of these docks that I reviewed were Thunderbolt 4.
