Sphero Bolt Plus Review

October 16, 2024 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

Introduction (Does It Do What It Should)

I’m always pleased to try out anything that has to do with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). It seems like there are a lot of companies that make these STEM construction kits, and it is probably because they probably work. That is, younger minds readily embrace these kits like toys, and there are great opportunities to learn from them.

I believe that the Sphero Bolt is something that I have reviewed before, and I had forgot that I even did a video on it back when I was doing studio videos. Personally, I like the one that I did this time around, but I will let you decide. Besides, this is the Sphero Bolt Plus, which I would imagine is some kind of upgrade.

If you are not familiar with the Sphero Bolt, it is actually a product that I have reviewed three times, counting this one. It is a ball that you can take control of its roll, and this one has a kind of upgrade. I think when I reviewed the Bolt the last time, it had this screen, but the Sphero Bolt Plus has a screen with a lot higher resolution.

There is a program so you can essentially draw a pattern, and then the ball will essentially follow that pattern that you just did. Then, for those that are really into it, you can do some serious coding to go through mazes and such. I think that “teaching” this ball to roll is kind of the point on this, but hey, I’m not really sure. It certainly seems that this is the way to go, as Sphero has a lot of kits designed for the classroom.

Facts About The Company

According to their “About Us” Sphero is here to have K-12 education with accessible tools to encourage exploration, imagination, and perseverance through STEM and computer science. Sphero helps educators all around the world to empower learners of all backgrounds and abilities to discover interests and passions to equip them with skills they need to become “changemakers”.

I hesitate to call Sphero’s products “toys”, but they certainly look as fun as toys. I mean, I have a list of products from them that I reviewed in the past, and I loved to review every one of them. In fact, I wished I had more time in my review for this particular product.

What Does This Company Make?

Oh, and then there is the Blueprint, which we covered before.

Well, there was that really cool Sphero RVR, which is a mobile roving vehicle that you can do a lot with.

Then there is this really cool littleBits Space Rover Inventor Kit, and there’s a lot that can be done with that.

Oh, and then there was this Sphero Indi, a car that can do quite a bit with some interesting programming tricks.

Like I said before, I believe that the most famous product is the Sphero Bolt, which even President Obama was caught playing with.

Just the Specs, Man

If you’re the type that needs this info, this section is for you!

I don’t really have any specs to report here, so I’m going to leave this blank, with the exception of the product dimensions: BOLT+ Robot: 2.87in (L) × 2.87in (W) × 2.87in (H)

If there is something on this that I didn’t cover, please let me know.

What Do the Reviews Say?

I’ve got something on Amazon which shows 4.7 stars out of 1,222 ratings. I would probably rate this just as highly.

Okay, Get To The Unboxing Already!

Maybe I Want It, But Is There Anything Else Like It? Maybe For A Lower Price? Please?

I haven’t really seen any products similar to the Sphero Bolt, except the RVR, also by Sphero.
