Introduction (Does It Do What It Should)
So, we had a chance to review not one, but two AOSU products with the SolarCam D1 Kit and the Video Doorbell Ultra. These are products that can add a level of security and convenience to your home.
Our Review of the AOSU SolarCam D1 Classic Kit
I can’t really help but compare the D1 Classic Kit with the P1. It has nothing to do with the name similarity, but the functionality.
If you have worked with products like this before, then you know that there is usually some kind of device that can link the cameras together. I think that is called the HomeCortex, and it is made to link to your router and the app so you can check your footage any time you wish. There is apparently no charge for using the Homebase, which can store encrypted recordings locally for up to 2 months with no fees.
What makes the D1 different from the P1 is how it is essentially a moving eye with 360 degree coverage and tracking. You can see in my video how once the camera knows you’re there, it will follow you. You can even control that eye’s movement from the app. You can also project your voice through the camera, and shine a bright light if you want. It looks like you might not need that as these cameras have built-in night vision.
I haven’t mentioned the best part, and that is that these are solar-powered. It only takes 2 hours worth of sunlight a day to keep these cameras powered. I am told that they are IP65 weatherproof, so they should work all year.
Now, there is something that I put on my video that could be a weakness and strength. That is, once the mount is up, the cameras slide into place, but they could be easily slid out. Now I guarantee, that if someone has the gall to do that, they will be detected. Also, if you have a problem with security as this would be a continuous issue, you have a bigger issue of security.
If you want this, you can get it on the AOSU website for about $339.99, but it is, at the time of this writing, the price of $259.99.
Our Review of the AOSU Video Doorbell Ultra
Okay, we’re no strangers to video doorbells, and this one from AOSU is quite something. First of all, it has 5MP Ultra High Definition, and you can see the video below if you want to see how well the audio and video footage turns out.
You can see that next to the doorbell is this kind of antenna thing, which is required to make it work, apparently. I was kind of hoping that I could cheat a little bit and use the HomeCortex of the D1, but no such luck. This HomeBase has a built-in 8GB memory and 60-day loop-recording which means the videos are safely stored at home. Speaking of home, the video doorbell was a pretty easy setup, and the mounting was simple as well, but I didn’t really feel a need to show that whole process.
I do want to talk about such features as the 166 degree field of view that can eliminate blind spots, so you will see who is at your door, not to mention any packages potentially at your doorstep. The battery in the video doorbell is also quite efficient with 180 days per charge, and I’m told it is 58 percent more efficient due to this technology.
If you want to get it, head to the AOSU site and pay $171.99. At the time of this writing, it is $125.99, so you could get lucky.
Facts About The Company
It would appear that AOSU (pronounced “ow-sue”) is big on security products. Their products also have some AI technology made for the consumer.
What Does This Company Make?
I would say that there are a few products that I would love to review, some camera kits with outdoor cameras, solar cameras, and indoor cameras. They also have video doorbells.
Just the Specs, Man

Maybe I Want It, But Is There Anything Else Like It? Maybe For A Lower Price? Please?
We did some reviews of products like Toucan, which was a really interesting camera. We also reviewed the EVE Outdoor Camera.
We reviewed this particular camera from Eufy with this Smart Floodlight with camera. For a while, we were using the eufyCam E2-Cam kit, and it was watching out on both side of our home for years.
