Our Review of the Audio-Technica Solid Bass Wireless Headphones ATH-WS990BT

Yes, it is time to review another Audio-Tehcnica product! This time, it is an awesome audio product with the ATH-WS990BT Solid Bass Bluetooth headphones!

So, what does this have? Let’s not bury the lead as it has 53 mm drivers, and not just any drivers, but Deep Motion Drivers. They have large, high-flux magnetic circuitry, made for low and high frequencies.

So yes, the sound is good. However, if you are worried about having too much sound and drowning out the world, you don’t have to. Yes, it has noise-cancelling as well as hear-through functionality, which means you can chose the level of blocking out reality. I have to admit, this was the first time I have seen this option on headphones, and it is worth bragging about.

As far as the rest of the features are concerned, let’s talk about the controls and microphone located conveniently on the left earcup. Other features are the 30 hours of continuous wireless use, which is good for 1,000 hours of standby.

It is available on the Audio-Technica website in any color, provided it’s black. Yeah, I think it was Henry Ford who said that about his automobile, but check this one out for about $249.00 if you want some very decent sound for your money.

Audio-Technica AT-LP60-BT Fully Automatic Wireless Belt-Drive Stereo Turntable

audio-technica-turntableIt’s time to talk vinyl. Yes, this is one of those formats that you just have to be in to, and a lot of of people are. Audio-Technica occasionally makes a lot of products for vinyl, and we had the chance to try out the AT-LP60WH-BT.

I suppose what gives the AT-LP60WH-BT its unique power is the fact that it is wireless, thanks to the help of some Bluetooth connectivity. So if you want to hook up this Audio-Technica AT-LP60-BT to a Bluetooth speaker, you can do that with about eight different pairs of speakers, in fact. By the way, you can connect it to wired speakers if you really want to.

Then there is the ease in play. For example, you can just push a start button to play a record and then stop button to turn off the record. Wow, that has got to be the easiest way to play a record since…honestly, I don’t know what. Then again, Audio-Technica has had a lot of experience with working on record players, because they had to do something before making all of those wireless earbuds, right?

The AT-LP60-BT has a Dual Magnet cartridge with a replaceable stylus, and it can play both 33 1/3 and 45 RPM records with an adapter.

If you are wanting to play some of those old records of yours, you can get the AT-LP60-BT on the Audio-Technica site for about $149.00.

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC40BT QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Wireless In-Ear Headphones

audio-technica-quietpoint-1I have had a terrific time reviewing Audio-Technica products before, and there are a lot of them out there. This particular ATH-ANC40BT QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Wireless In-Ear Headphones has a lot going for it.

I have said before that wireless products like these are probably going out of style due to the new age of the wireless earbuds, but the ATH-ANC40BT have a very different design to them. You might be able to tell from the picture that they are the type that fit around your neck, but the controls are at your shoulders. The microphone is able to pick up ambient noise and tune it out like a noise eraser, so I am told.

The purpose of the controls are to have in-line mic controls for operating hands-free in answering and ending calls. By the way, these particular In-Ear headphones can pair up to eight Bluetooth enabled deices, and you can shift from one device to the other. By the way, there is a detachable 3.9 foot (1.2 meter) cable for a wired connection with an 3.5 mm stereo mini-plug.

As for the sound, they are able to distract background noise up to ninety percent, and it has 13.5 mm drivers. If you have any doubt about how great the sound is, it has aptX sound-improvement technology.

You should be able to pick up the ATH-ANC40BT QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Wireless In-Ear Headphones on the Audio-Technica website for about $129.99.

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC33iS QuietPoint Noise Cancelling In-Ear Headphones

ath_anc33is_1_sqIn addition to the turntable that I got a chance to try out this week, I also had a chance to try out the ATH-ANC33iS QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones from Audio-Technica. I have tried out a lot of Audio-Technica products before, and this one is as good as the others that I have reviewed.

The ATH-ANC33iS can reduce distracting background noise by up to 90 percent, and then there is a QuietPoint control module that creates a noise-cancelling wave that is 180 degrees out of phase with the ambient noise. Seriously, with these earbuds, you should be able to pretty much block out the rest of the world.

Also on these earbuds is an inline microphone and controller for controlling music as well as answering calls. It is made to support all kinds of mobile devices like iPads, iPhones, iPods, and smartphones. The microphone has an omnidirectional pickup pattern made so you don’t have to speak directly into the microphone. Oh, by the way, there is a clothing clip, but don’t most microphones come with this?

Other features include Comply Foam Tips for comfortably fitting in the ear canal, and they have audio functions that work without the included AAA battery.

All in all, it is pretty terrific, and you can get the ATH-ANC33iS on the Audio-Technica site for about $79.95.

Audio-Technica AT-LP60-USB LP-to-Digital Recording System

audio Technica LP turntableI’ll be honest when I say that the Audio-Technica AT-LP60-USB LP-to-digital recording system is definitely for a niche crowd. I think it is just plain odd that I got into cassettes back in the early eighties, and then when the nineties happened, I was doing CDs. I think that the rest of the world was with me on this, so those who still have vinyl albums will love the AT-LP60-USB.

I think it is strange that vinyl is still a working format, when I will have to scrounge to find a new album on cassette or 8-track. Fortunately, the AT-LP60-USB allows for a direct connection to the computer with a USB output. From there, you can put your tracks on an MP3, and the AT-LP60-USB also has a built-in switchable phono/line preamp that allows connection to a stereo system equipped with either a phono or line-level input.

To help out getting the your tracks as digital files on your computer, there is some Mac and PC compatible Audacity software. I’m not certain what more can be said about the AT-LP60-USB other than vinyl enthusiasts will love it. In fact, there are reviews of it on the Audio-Technica site that are positive, and I like it to. If you are a vinyl enthusiast yourself, you can get for about $149.95.

Review of the Audio-Technica ATH-SPORT2 earbuds

ATH_SPORT2This would be my second Audio-Technica product that I have reviewed this week, and this time, it is not gaming headphones. No, this is the ATH-SPORT2, which is some great earbuds made for the active lifestyle.

I had a chance to try them out for myself, and they have some great sound that I have come to expect from the Audio-Technica company and these have cool 10 mm drivers. What is terrific about it is how they are designed to go around the neck so they will not get tangled, and there is some active fit ear tips that stay within the ear canal with three different sizes of silicone housing rings (Small, Medium and Large).

In addition to the snug fit within the ear canals, the earbuds are actually iPX5 waterproof which means that you can take them out for a jog in the rain. According to the official site, you can run the earbuds underneath a tap water faucet, and they will be fine.

You should be able to get the Audio-Technica ATH-SPORT2 on the Audio-Technica site for a price of $39.95 in black, red, navy-yellow, blue, and yellow-pink.

The Audio-Technica ATH-PDG1 Premium Gaming Headset

ATH-PDG1I’ve always been pleased with Audio-Technica products, and I was pleased to write about the ATH-PDG1 Premium Gaming Headphones. The last gaming headphones that I tried were from PDP, with the Afterglow Kral. These headphones may not glow at the ears, but they are quite good.

I am not certain if I can really classify these as gaming headphones, because right now, I’m watching Black Mirror on my computer and I’m getting really spectacular sound with good bass (I might be talking about Black Mirror later on on Saturday, by the way). Part of it is the Large diameter 40 mm drivers with CCAW voice coils for “lively, in-the-game sound”.

Not only are these headphones good for gaming or listening to movies on your PC, but it is good for smartphones with a cable and a 6-inch inline microphone. Yes, there was a microphone here so you can use those vocal controls on your PS4, PC, smartphone, or whatever. By the way, I am told these will work for the Xbox One provided that you have

By the way, it is made of some lightweight construction as well as a leather headband and earpads, so it is pretty immersive.

In short, I’m really liking the ATH-PDG1 Premium Gaming headphones. I would recommend them if you are a serious gamer or even not a serious gamer. You can find it on the Audio-Technica site for about $199.95.

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC70 QuietPoint headphones

ath_anc70_1_sqI’m always thrilled to review Audio-Technica’s products, such as the ATH-WS77 Solid Bass Headphones. I had a chance to review another one of their over-the-ear headphones, the ATH-ANC70 QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling headphones.

I definitely think these are one of the most advanced headphones that I have tried as far as the Active Noise-cancelling part is concerned. It can reduce noise by ninety percent, and I will testify that it does that. I mean, I just put them on my ears, and I could not hear any of the conversation in the next room, like I normally can.

So how is the sound on the inside of it? Well, it is also quite good. I think it has something to do with its battery power, which causes a little light on the headphone to shine. You can turn off the electric power if you like, but the sound isn’t quite so good.

By the way, the shine around the headphones illuminates the button to take a phone call and then return to your music. It also has a high-sensitivity microphone built right into the earcup.

Yes, the box on the ATH-ANC70 is made for smartphones, which is what it says on the box. It can be used for anything else, and the 40 mm drivers with a rare earth magnet system for great volumes.

If you want to get in on this type of action, I highly recommend heading over to the Audio-Technica site and laying down $199.95 for it.

The ATH-AX5iS SonicFuel Over-ear Headphones

ath_ax5is_bk_1_sq I have reviewed Audio-Technica products before, like the ATH-CKX5iS and other SonicFuel in-ear headphones. Now I am reviewing the SonicFuel over-the-head headphones.

There is a reason that the ATH-AX5iS by Audio-Technica is labelled “over-ear headphones for smartphones”. I used this on my computer, and I found that I had to turn up the volume. I will have to say that the sound is terrific, with deep bass tones. I found that I didn’t have to do any more volume adjustment when I plugged it into my Galaxy S III.

Of course, it is always tricky to review headphones, because it really is all about the sound and all. I’ll talk about the other features like the in-line mic, and the volume and track controls on the cord. The cord is nice and flat in order to resist tangles, and this is starting to become a standard in headphones. The only feature that I wished it had was a glowing Audio-Technica logo on the sides, sort of like the SteelSeries Siberia Elite.

If you want the ATH-AX5iS SonicFuel Over-ear headphones for smartphones, check it out on the Audio-Technica site in black or gun-metal gray for $89.95.

Audio-Technica ATH-CKX5iS SonicFuel In-ear Headphones

ath_ckx5isbk_1_sqI have to admit that I am pretty biased when it comes to Audio-Technica products. After all, I really liked the SonicSport earbuds, and I have no had a chance to try out the Sonic Fuel headphones.

Now, the SonicFuel headphones are definitely designed for those who are active, as they have some earbuds that have a unique shape. They are designed to stay in the ear, thanks to the “C-tip configuration”.

This is about the most original thing that I can say about this. I have said before that it is difficult to earbud reviews, as eventually, you realize that most of them are the same.

It has the in-line control with mic for answering and ending calls. Yeah, everyone has one of those, too.

If you are interested in getting the SonicFuel, head on over to the Audio-Technica site and lay down about $49.95.
