Speculative Fiction Friday: Iron Sky on Netflix

January 25, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

It has been a while since I have done a speculative fiction movie review, and I believe the last one was a month ago with The Fifth Element at Christmas. I learned of a film called Iron Sky, which is a Finnish/German/Australian film with a very odd premise that the Nazis somehow established a base on the moon shortly after WWII. Of course, most speculative fiction films … [Read more...] about Speculative Fiction Friday: Iron Sky on Netflix

DNA Gun “tags” potential suspects better than Facebook

January 25, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

I realize that the gun in this image looks like some sort of toy, but it is not. I assure you, that it will not kill you, but you do not want to be on the other side of it. This gun is made by a UK company called Selectamark, and it can fire non-lethal pellets that look like flat green marbles. This ammo can leave a DNA trace mark that can enable the authorities to see … [Read more...] about DNA Gun “tags” potential suspects better than Facebook

Microsoft Research working on “smart floor” that works like a mirror

January 25, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

It seems like Microsoft Research has all the cool stuff. Just recently, I heard about the Illumiroom, and now there is this smart floor. As you can see in the picture, the "mirror" images of the people in the room do not match the people themselves. This is because the images are just computer generated, but they might as well be real as they can imitate their … [Read more...] about Microsoft Research working on “smart floor” that works like a mirror

My review of the Plantronics Marque 2

January 25, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

Yes, I love Plantronics, and I was pleased to try out the Marque 2. I am assuming that it is pronounced Mark Two, and not Mark-kay too, or something. The Marque 2 is essentially a Bluetooth headset that is quite light in its design. It has the one-button control, but you won't need it because you can just say "Answer" or "Ignore" for calls. Of course, there are a … [Read more...] about My review of the Plantronics Marque 2

X-Mini KAI Capsule Wireless Bluetooth Speaker

January 24, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

Having just tried out the X-mini UNO Capsule speaker, I felt pretty satisfied. Then I tried out the X-mini KAI Capsule Wireless Speaker. The KAI essentially has the same set up as the UNO, but it is larger when fully extended. Yes, it has the accordion formation, and I believe that I forgot to mention when I reviewed the UNO how the sound changes when the speakers are … [Read more...] about X-Mini KAI Capsule Wireless Bluetooth Speaker

The Sensus Canopy: Use the other side of your iPhone case for control

January 24, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

When it comes to innovations in technology, you really have to learn to "think outside the box". Yeah, that is so cliche that you have to be inside the box to use that. Two weeks ago, I was at CES 2013 and there were booths and booths full of mobile accessories and cases for popular phones like the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S III, and Nokia Lumia 920. I didn't really see … [Read more...] about The Sensus Canopy: Use the other side of your iPhone case for control

SoloWheel, a gyro-stabilized electric unicycle

January 24, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

I always like seeing new and more convenient form of transportation, and yes, I wish I could afford a Segway. This Solowheel looks to be a smaller version of the Segway, or other self-balancing vehicle. As you can see, the Solowheel is very small, sort of like a tiny unicycle that you don't need to pedal. It has two gyro sensors for control, which is leaning forward to … [Read more...] about SoloWheel, a gyro-stabilized electric unicycle

Dacor brings us an Android stove

January 24, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

While I was at CES Unveiled, I got a chance to see Dacor, a company that has created innovations like the 30-inch Self-Cleaning Pure Convection Wall Oven, has created an oven with Wi-Fi Connectivity. That's right, it is an oven that can be controlled remotely, and it runs on the Android OS. It is powered by a Samsung 1GHz Processor 512MB DDR2 RAM, and the user, or "chef", … [Read more...] about Dacor brings us an Android stove

Mozilla is working on a Firefox smartphone

January 23, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

I think we all know that the smartphone operating systems are ruled by iOS, Android, and Windows 8, but there could be a new player in this game. Mozilla, creator of the Internet browser Firefox, is working on developing a mobile phone that will use their own version of a mobile operating system, Firefox OS. This phone is being developed with Telefonica and Geeksphone. … [Read more...] about Mozilla is working on a Firefox smartphone

The Shimi robot from Tovbot

January 23, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

While I was at CES 2013, I saw a little robot that reminded me a lot of Number Johnny Five, except he didn't have tank treads for legs. The robot's name was Shimi, and it was made by a company known as Tovot you should probably just watch the video and see everything Shimi can do. Considering how many Bluetooth speakers that I reviewed last year, it is nice to see a … [Read more...] about The Shimi robot from Tovbot

Sensory Acumen’s GameSkunk brings the smell to video games

January 23, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

I think we all know that 3-D has brought new life to video games, but now that the sight and sound have been taken care of, we might as well try and cover scent in our video games. Sensory Acumen has created this gaming product that they call GameSkunk, which is an olfactory device made to deliver scents to gamers, and it can do about 30,000 of them. I know what you are … [Read more...] about Sensory Acumen’s GameSkunk brings the smell to video games

CTA Digital presents the iPotty for the iPad

January 22, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

All right, I suppose that I have now seen iPad accessories for everything. I saw this at CES 2013 at CTA Digital's booth, who I believe is a company that is most famous for gaming accessories like the Wii Sniper Rifle. I don't know about this, as I couldn't imagine someone using the iPad to potty train a kid. CTA Digital told me that this works with all apps, which can … [Read more...] about CTA Digital presents the iPotty for the iPad

The CYNAPS Project from Max Virtual

January 22, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

When it comes to listening to music, we have been a prisoner to earbuds for the past decade. It is time to think past the plugging of the ears. Personally, I am surprised we haven't gone to bone conduction, such as the ones on Aftershokz Mobile. These type of headphones don't have to come in contact with the ears, just the skin. A company known as Max Virtual is working … [Read more...] about The CYNAPS Project from Max Virtual

enchantMOON, like no tablet that you have ever seen

January 22, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

I think we all know that the iPad and various other Android tablets essentially rule the tablet market, and it is really interesting to see what could be the next big thing. I think I may have found it with the enchantROOM. The enchantMOON is from Ubiquitous Entertainment Inc. (UEI) and I believe that is a Japanese company. The enchantMOON has the MOONPhase OS, and it … [Read more...] about enchantMOON, like no tablet that you have ever seen

Go Ballistic on your mobile device, and you’ll be protected

January 22, 2013 By Techno_Mark Leave a Comment

I realize that headline seems very contradictory, but when it comes to protection for mobile devices, there are the usual cases that I often report about, and then there are the gourmet ones that offer a lot of protection. These are the cases of Otterbox and Ballistic. I had a chance to try out the Ballistic case for the Motorola RAZR M, my former phone. No offense to … [Read more...] about Go Ballistic on your mobile device, and you’ll be protected
